Much Foolishness Art Opening Night
Focusing on the Stonnington area, Michael’s current exhibition features the masterpiece Obelisque – a portrait of local identity Cam Coley Smith from Killing Time Bar.
Michael Scott has been a practising artist for more than four decades. His first exhibition (while in prep) consisted of one piece: ‘Our House’ (crayon on butcher’s paper) exhibited on the family fridge curated by his mum. His first critique was quite negative: “No son of mine is becoming an artist!” – Michael’s dad.
Primarily a Location Artist working in various mediums, Michael has transformed his St Kilda residence into a majestic menagerie of oils on canvas, hard-rubbish-collection sculptures, taxidermy and theatrical asides. He owns more images of Jesus than the Vatican. His bedroom has influenced a number of paranoid, long-term substance-abusers to enter Windana for rehab.
